CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FALL 2011 IMHCA SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS!!!!!!

Each recipient will receive $250.00 to apply towards their schooling, which will ultimately assist them in their counseling career upon graduation.

Amanda Lundquist graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and later received her Graduate Certificate in Addiction Studies. She s currently a Counselor Education graduate student at Boise State University.  While going to school full time, she works full time, voluntarily facilitates a drug and alcohol education class through Center for Behavioral Health, and actively volunteers through the Girl Scouts  Vision Program.

Melissa Syria is a Master of Counseling (mental health track) student at Idaho State University, graduating in May, 2012.  She recently attended training with some of Relational-Cultural theory's (RCT) founders at Wellesley's Stone Center in Massachusetts.  She is currently collaborating on projects applying RCT to parenting and specific cultural groups.  Her interests include social justice, advocacy, and multi-cultural counseling.  She currently serves as an intern at Belmont Care Center working with developmentally disabled sex offenders, Bingham Crisis Center working with survivors of domestic violence, and ISU-Pocatello's new counseling clinic.  She has 4 children and is not able to work (for pay) while attending the program, so this scholarship is very much appreciated during her last semester.

Hello Student Members!

Our Spring 2012 Scholarship Contest is a quick and easy way for you to receive $250.  To be considered submit your essay by March 15, 2012! We are offering two opportunities to receive a $250 scholarship.  Guidelines are as follows:

1) Write an essay, not to exceed two double spaced pages, regarding your plans for contributing to the counseling profession after you graduate. Do not overthink it! Just tell us what you want to do with your life. You chose counseling as your degree, so we know that your goals are altruistic. Share those goals with IMHCA.

2) Submit your essay by March 15, 2011 to the IMHCA Membership Chair Lori Farrens by clicking on the email link to the left.

3) Do it now while it is fresh on your mind.

If you can't use $250 for yourself, please let your fellow students or interns know so that they have a chance to enter. Note: You must be a member of IMHCA to have your essay considered for this contest.

GOOD LUCK!
